Ottawa: On Canada Day, July 1, the Governor General of Canada, the Right Honourable Michelle Jean, announced new honorary appointments, including Benedictine monk, Fr Laurence Freeman, as an officer of the Order of Canada. He is cited for his contributions as the spiritual leader and director of the World Community for Christian Meditation (WCCM) and as a proponent of peace, inter-religious dialogue and understanding.
